Why is the Angel Capital Summit Different?

The Angel Capital Summit (ACS) brings together the smartest investors and brightest entrepreneurs in Colorado, and provides unique solutions which improve the flow of information from entrepreneurs to investors, and the flow of capital into Colorado's booming entrepreneurial business ecology.

Unlike our friends and partners at many industry-specific investment conferences, the Rockies Venture Club (RVC) does not focus on one narrow sector, but rather highlights the best early-stage businesses and attracts the leading investors throughout Colorado and beyond.

The ACS is powered by a Colorado start-up, the Business Catapult. Business Catapult founders have been part of Colorado's entrepreneurial community for well over a collective 50 years, have been long time members and supporters of RVC, and are serial entrepreneurs, investors and thought leaders.

The Business Catapult provides a suite of tools that results in better matching of investors an entrepreneurs, as well as faster assessment of potential investments and a smoother process for all deal screeners. These tools include:

  • Benchmark Survey – a quick yet thorough assessment of a business strategy, leadership and likelihood of success
  • Benchmark Report – the results of the Benchmark Survey, compared with the collective results of other companies that have achieved commercial success
  • Investment Summary – a smart summary of each deal's financials, easily comparable with other summaries
  • Investment Scorecard – a report on the completeness and accuracy of the combination of the Benchmark Survey, the Investment Summary, and the Company’s Executive Summary
  • Investor Survey – an assessment of each investor's background and goals, in order to provide more relevant deal flow
  • Investor Dashboard – a snapshot view of the mission-critical information regarding each investment opportunity that matches the investor's filters
  • Collaborative Assessment – a workspace that allows investors and advisors to rank and comment on each deal, leveling and speeding the assessment process

As a result of these and other supporting processes, we ensure that it's the best business opportunities, and not the best pitch-men, who present to the ACS attendees.

Investors are able to leverage their own assessment criteria, investment strategy and intuition against a more uniform and easily comparable suite of information.

Entrepreneurs gain valuable feedback on their business strategy, and finalists are coached by some of the region's best pitch coaches to ensure that the most relevant information is presented.

These two factors contribute to an elevated level of discourse during the presentation, when the insightful investors can challenge deeper business metrics and marketplace assumptions, revealing the deeper truths of each business.

Additionally, the data collected from this event will be presented in a “State of Entrepreneurship in Colorado” report following the event that will deliver previously unavailable real time understanding of our entrepreneurial business ecology.
